The first ever visit of the Pope has become a reality! Already 20 years ago, Pope John Paul II wanted to visit Mongolia, but due to health reasons, the trip did not take place in the end. Today we are witnessing a historic event: the messenger of hope and peace is in the realm of Genghis Khan!

The Catholic Church started its renewed activity in Mongolia in 1992 practically from scratch. In 31 years, they still form a small flock of about 1,300 baptized Catholics. Of course, they also include many unbaptized people who also come to Catholic parishes or various social facilities.
Among the many who came to welcome Pope Francis today were representatives from the Salesian parish of the Holy Family in Šovó. See how it all went down.
