Celebration of Palm Sunday of the Lord’s passion in Darkhan

Darkhan, Mongolia, 25 March 2018 — The Palm Sunday ceremony began at the courtyard of Don Bosco Centre at 10 am. His Excellency Wenceslao Padilla, bishop of Mongolia presided over the entire ceremony, the palm branches were blessed and around 200 hundred people, gathered for the ceremony, entered into Maria Auxilium church with solemn procession, holding the blessed palm branches and the church choir singing ‘Hosanna in the highest. The Con-celebrants were Fr. Ernesto, Consolata, Vicar of the Bishop, Fr. Simon Lee SDB, parish priest, Fr. Joseph Dat SDB, Fr. Jaroslav SDB, and Fr. Anthony Kishore Minj SDB.

 

In his homily Bishop Wenceslao Padilla highlighted the importance of the Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion. He said that every Christian must experience Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection in which lies the whole mystery of one’s salvation.

 

After the homily he baptised 20 people children and adults, and among them 8 adults received the sacrament of confirmation. At the end of the Mass, newly baptised and confirmed received a small token or a gift.

 

After the Mass the parish priest Fr. Simon Lee SDB expressed the words of gratitude to the bishop, the catechism teachers who have been accompanying the newly baptized Catholics for almost two years, to god parents and to all the faithful and requested them to continue to support them by their valuable prayers.
