Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, October 20, 2016—The long awaited day is soon arriving and the whole atmosphere, salesians, salesian family, staffs and the youth of Mongolia are eagerly waiting to receive the Rector Major on October 22, 2016.
Plannings and preparations has been going on from the day it was announced (9 months ago) that the Rector Major would visit Mongolia. It would be a historical and significant visit as he would be the first Rector Major to touch the Mongolian soil. The programs will be as follows:
Saturday 22/10/2016: arrival to Mongolia
He will be arriving at the Chingiz Khan airport at 4.45 pm according to the local time and he would be received by 23 people which includes, salesians, salesian family, staff of Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan community and the youth. At the airport he would be welcomed with flower bouquet.
As he enters the Don Bosco Ulaanbaatar he would be given a Mongolian traditional welcome with Hatag (blue scarf) and he would drink fermented sour milk then he will be led to a Ger (Mongolian traditional house) where he would be staying for next two days. From here he goes to the salesian residence to pray in the chapel followed by dinner with all the salesians and the staff. During the dinner he would be entertained with music and dance by the staff of Don Bosco Ulaanbaatar. Thereafter, there would Buona Note and then he goes to bed.
Sunday 23/10/2016: Darkhan
In the morning on October 23, 2016 he will be travelling to Don Bosco Darkhan around 250kms. As he reaches Darkhan he would be clothed with Mongolian Dale (Mongolian traditional attire) and he would be riding two hump camel specialty of Mongolia. Then he would celebrate mass in the Church of Mary of Christians and during the Mass he will also baptize two babies. Then, there would be concert, followed by lunch in the Ger according to the Mongolian custom. After that he would address all the salesians. By late afternoon he would be travelling back to Ulaanbaatar with all the salesians. Then dinner would be served, followed by night prayer, good night talk and then he would retire to bed.
Monday 24/10/2016: Ulaanbaatar
Monday morning on October 24, 2016 he will have lauds with the salesians followed by breakfast, after that he would bless newly constructed Don Bosco Caring Center building. After the blessing there would be delegate council meeting and then he would be presiding over the Holy Eucharistic at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral. Then cultural show will begin in Don Bosco school gym at 11 am. at this time he would also address the youth. He would be encountering the youth at the lunch time which will be served soon after the cultural show.
In the late afternoon he will travel to another new salesian mission center called Shovoo around 40 kilometers away from the city. After returning from there he would meet His Excellency Wenseslau Padilla the bishop of Mongolia. Then, he would take dinner with the salesian family.
Tuesday 25/10/2016: Departure
On October 25, 2016, in the morning he would be departing from Mongolia.
The Delegate of Mongolia thanks him in advance for his visit and the joy that he would bring to the salesians and particularly to the Mongolian people.
