DON BOSCO in Mongolia

Be a messenger of hope

Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival offered young people the possibility to express their vision of hope in creating short movies. Among 1,686 submitted movies there were 3 from Mongolia.

18 – 19 November 2021, Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival took place in Salesian places around the world. “Moved by hope” – the topic given by Rector Major of Salesians of Don Bosco for the year 2021 inspired the global film festival.

“After almost 2 years of COVID-19 lock-down, where all activities were suspended, the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival was for us like waking up from long winter sleep,” said Fr. Jaroslav SDB, animating this festival in Mongolia.

Young people from Darkhan and from Shuvuu, although they are no professional movie makers, took this challenge to express their hope in short movies, seriously. They shared their ideas about hope, prepared scripts, learned how to record and cut video and much more… They were not running for a winning price, but sharing their dreams and desires. Finally they submitted 3 short movies from Mongolia.

On Saturday, 20 November 2001 there was a screening of festival movies from different parts of the world in Darkhan and in Shuvuu. Young people after each movie shared their reflections and observations. The winning movie from 12 selected movies in Shuvuu was the movie “Moved by Hope” made by refugees from Palabec in Uganda. 110 selected short films are available online on the website of the Festival on https://www.dbgyff.com/.

Thank you for organizing such an event which strengthens the hope of young people in Mongolia.
